 The Women In the Church
This past year was a busy, fun-filled and blessed year for the Women in the Church. Our studies were based around the book “Lies Women Believe – and the Truth That Sets Them Free” by author, Nancy Leigh DeMoss, and led by Fran Bliss. This is a Christian author who ties in the world around us (and within us) with God’s answers to all our questions and concerns. It is a wonderful book that helps us bond as sisters-in-Christ as we study God’s word together. We plan to continue reading from this book during 2008.
Following are some things we did in 2007. (January) new officers elected. (March) voted to support Sandra Hart as our new missionary; planned trip to see Easter drama “The Message of Easter” in Williamston and prepared for the upcoming Spring Conference . (April) Spring Conference. (May) graduation reception for Lori Blaney (hosted by Fran) and baby shower for the Blaylocks (hosted by Brenda). (June) baby shower for the Tuckers (hosted by Christina) and open house graduation party for Evan Taylor. (July) preparing for and holding Vacation Bible School (directed by Fran). (August) summer ice-cream social/sing-a-long. (September) annual yard sale - which was very successful. (October) Pastor Appreciation Month (headed by Fran); annual Women’s Retreat in Myrtle Beach (hosted by Patsy). (November) prepared for Homecoming Sunday. (December) elected 2008 officers; set goals for 2008; and topped the year off with our Church –wide Christmas party.
All women (members and non-members) are welcome to join us.
We meet on the 2nd Sunday at 5:00 in the Ladies Parlor.
